Boeing safety probes eyed: Reports
Flight-control software suspected in two fatal 737 Max crashes was certified in part by Boeing employees making safety inspections for the federal government, Bloomberg says, citing anonymous people. The Federal Aviation Administration, in recent years, has ceded more of its review process to the manufacturer. Separately, federal prosecutors and the Department of Transportation are probing approval of the jets’ design, given similarities in the crashes last week and in October. Delivery and operation of the craft have been suspended worldwide.

I understand there is another layer to the 737 tragedies. The US is the world watchdog (FAA) for the airline industry. The Information needed for prevention was known; the government was in a shutdown at the time leading to the warning not being sent? Ask questions and make your own conclusions.
