B.C. wants to end daylight saving
Love it or hate it, daylight saving time may soon be coming to an end in British Columbia. Provincial legislators have introduced a measure that would eliminate seasonal time changes by mid-March. The move was backed by 93 per cent of B.C. survey respondents, who largely cited health and wellness as their main concerns. The proposed act would enforce a permanent “Pacific Time" that would push sunlight an hour later in the winter. The “export dependent economy” plans to move forward with or without its partners as a commitment to its population’s requests.

93% backing is impressive. Some health problems are reported on Mondays when we hit by "sleep reduction" hour. At the same time, switch to daylight does save energy. How can be balance it? We can keep October time change the same way (we are gaining hour of sleep, rest) March switch can be done same day, but following Monday offices/workplace continue old time, gradually moving to be in sync.? (9-5 will be 10-5 Monday, 9.30-5 Tuesday). Employers will easily absorb 1.5 extra vacation time, especially in Canada - Canadians have of the least number vacation days in developed world (behind US already). Employers, also, are ones who benefit the most from the daylight policy, saving on energy. I wonder how many would vote for this option. I cannot access to survey to see how many options were given to people.
