Top execs pull out of Saudi summit
U.S. Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin will not attend Saudi Arabia’s upcoming Future Investment Initiative. His announcement follows the disappearance of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi and the subsequent withdrawal of several Wall Street executives from participating in the so-called Davos in the desert. The Saudi journalist, a prominent government critic, was missing since entering his country’s consulate in Istanbul on Oct. 2. Saudi Arabia's general prosecutor announced over two weeks later that he was killed in "a fight" inside the consulate. JPMorgan Chase’s Jamie Dimon, Blackrock’s Larry Fink and representatives of Uber, Viacom and Hewlett-Packard have also said they were dropping out of the event.
