Apple: So sorry about Siri

Bridging the divide between AI and news discovery/curation. Probably playing "keepy uppy" or Go Fish! with the kids later.
Apple says it's no longer keeping audio recordings of customer interactions with voice assistant Siri and has apologized for the practice. The tech giant used contractors to listen to the conversations but suspended the program a few weeks ago following complaints. Apple plans to reinstate the practice after some software updates this fall, but will give users more control over their privacy, Bloomberg reports. Amazon still "audits" interactions with its virtual assistant, Alexa, but is letting users opt out of human review.
Apple can easily deploy technology to transcribe and analyze the interactions over Siri. There need to be regulatory alignment at a global level on the ethical use of this data analysis as there is a fine line between research and identifying new commercialization avenues. This is easier said than done in a digital domain as there are different social definitions of data privacy
