Amazon heads East for fresh talent
Amazon has confirmed both New York City and Northern Virginia as the locations for its second headquarters. The online giant whittled a list of 238 possible locales via a nomination process in which municipalities vied for the prize of $5 billion in investments and 50,000 new jobs. But the surprise decision to split the HQ2 contest means the e-commerce giant will likely divide those spoils between the Queens neighborhood of Long Island City and Crystal City in Arlington County, Virginia.
- Amazon also announced Tuesday that Nashville, another HQ2 finalist, will be the company’s East Coast operations hub and home to another 5,000 jobs.
