Buyer, beware! Amazon has a problem

As the amount of third-party sellers on Amazon has ballooned — accounting for 60% of all physical goods sales in 2018 — the e-commerce giant struggles to ensure all of its products are safe. An investigation by The Wall Street Journal found over 4,000 items listed on Amazon had been previously deemed unsafe, banned or inappropriately labeled. Infant sleeping mats that were banned by the FDA because they can cause suffocation, for example, and a helmet that failed federal safety tests are still being sold.

This has been a huge issue with baby carriers that are counterfeit or do not meet CPSC regulations and ISTM standards. One of the many reasons I was forced to close TrendSetterMom LLC was these counterfeits hitting the market through Amazon and undercutting licensed products which meet standards and need to be sold at MSRP due to contractual agreements with the manufacturer.
