Abusive bosses have no excuse

I've seen this play out in the workplace over and over. Especially the part about leaders who claim they are just "holding people accountable" when they belittle or yell. The research suggests that a boss who “demands” excellence is no more likely to produce it than the boss who nurtures excellence—and in fact is likely less so.

This seems like a “no-brainer” but ahem...unfortunately it remains a reality in many workplaces.

I strongly recommend this article in today's NYTimes (February 27, 2019) Business Section concerning the effects of being a "bully boss" who motivates through intimidation and fear vs. being a boss who engages and motivates his/her team members in a gentler, more respectful manner. Learn how to recognize these characteristics and then you can choose to avoid them.

I think it is time to stand up against this kind of behavior. These people are simply unfit for duty.

(Not a political post) Abusive gaslighting behavior towards any employee is unacceptable. The gender card has absolutely no place in this discussion. This is not a political post. For some reason, in America, we defend and idolize bosses like Harvey Weinstein, Jeff Bezos and Amy Klobuchar who create toxic work environments. As a Weinstein veteran I can tell you that any perceived "value" they bring to their industry is more than outweighed by the damage they leave in their wake. We have to expect more out of our leaders and our bosses. The ends do not justify the means. #workingenvironment #toxicity #inspiration
