Reflecting on my own corporate journey, I realize I was hiding behind a metaphorical mask.
People knew me as a professional but not as a person.
When I left corporate America, I had an identity crisis.
I was living two different identities, a professional and a personal one, that were very different from each other.
At the time I didn’t realize I was living out of integrity with myself because I wasn’t showing up as the same person.
I wasn’t living authentically and lost sight of who I was.
I didn’t think I was enough, that who I am would be taken seriously at work.
Unraveling the persona I created, that wasn’t me, I was able to come back to the center of who I really am- it’s tough work, but worth it!
It’s not unlike a lot of the women I work with now, finding themselves pleasing and performing, only to lose their identity in the midst.
