On 10 July, the European Commission deemed the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework adequate, providing enhanced protections for EU individuals and much needed assurance for U.S. and EU businesses that personal data can once again flow across the Atlantic in compliance with the GDPR to enable global trade.
The question for privacy professionals now is when and how they can rely on this new mechanism. What does it mean today for organizations transferring data via standard contracts and other mechanisms? How should those who maintained Privacy Shield certifications proceed? When and how can companies certify to the new framework? What has changed and what has not?
