Amy and Evelyn Guttmann, OTR/L are sister neurodevelopment occupational therapists. They founded Hands on OT Rehab in 1999, and have since evaluated and treated over 11,000 infants, children and adolescents internationally. Amy and Evelyn’s work at Hands on OT is complemented by their work for numerous other home-based, school based and early intervention programs. They have consulted and provided educational trainings to over 120 schools in the Tri-state area, as well as throughout the world. Currently, they are researching anxiety and the effects of sensory and reflex integration.
They are founders and directors of Hands on Approaches, founded in 2016, providing nationally approved continuing education courses to professionals from around the world. Their courses have been recognized by the American Occupational Therapy Association, American Speech and Hearing Association, the American Physical Therapy Association, as well as State Boards of Social Workers and Mental Health Professionals. They are approved international continuing education providers. Their article, "What Screen Time and Screen Media Do To Your Child’s Brain and Sensory Processing Ability", published in March 2017 has been viewed over 5 million times and is recognized as the basis for research on screen time across multiple universities.
They have also co-founded the H.O.P.E. (Hands on Parent Empowerment) Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to empowering parents of children with academic, behavioral, and social-emotional difficulties. Their mission is to educate and empower the community in the prevention of anxiety and social-emotional delays. As renowned speakers, authors of internationally recognized blogs, and through their podcast, “Quiet the Noise”, they are working on educating and empowering parents, therapists and the community around the world.
During this talk, Amy and Evelyne will be sharing information and providing support for parents and adults dealing with stress management and reflexes.
