Don’t display gifts near windows - Avoid placing wrapped gifts where they can be seen from outside. Visible presents can attract thieves scouting for easy targets. 2?? Use timers on indoor and/or outdoor lights - Set timers for lights to turn on and off at various times, giving the illusion that someone is home even when you’re away. 3?? Hide spare keys in unusual spots - Ditch the classic under-the-doormat spot. Instead, use a lockbox or choose a less obvious hiding place for spare keys. 4?? Refrain from sharing travel plans publicly - Avoid posting your holiday travel plans on social media until you return. Announcing an empty house can invite break-ins. 5?? Ask trusted neighbors to keep an eye out if traveling -Let a reliable neighbor know when you’ll be away so they can watch for unusual activity. They can collect your mail/packages, adjust lights, or even park a car in your driveway to make your home appear occupied. 6?? Upgrade to Smart Locks or Video Doorbells - Install smart locks or video doorbells to monitor and control who has access to your home, even when you’re away.
