I left my Just for Men in too long; Here’s What It Taught Me About B2B Sales: Yesterday, whilst doing my bi-monthly beard tint, I got lax with timings and kept the dye in for about 44 minutes too long (I was listening to a Steven Bartlett podcast, so easily done - it's just brilliant and he's introduced me to this fantastic new product called Huel). The result? A beard so intense it looks like it negotiates oil deals before the 5am yoga session. But in that moment of staring into the mirror—equal parts horror and admiration—I realised this mistake had parallels with B2B sales. Here’s how: 1. Timing is Everything Just like I misjudged the timing here, in B2B sales, reaching out at the wrong time can leave you with a result no one wants. Read the packet and DO NOT apply to eyebrows or pubic region. 2. Overdoing It Can Backfire Pushing too hard? You risk coming across as disingenuous. You will have to live with the results for weeks, if not months when you overdo it. 3. Own Your Mistakes The best salespeople are human - animals are really bad at selling any form of SaaS. If you mess up a pitch or call, own it - just don't wear a balaclava for 2 weeks. 4. I think, therefore I am As the late, great Descartes said 'I think, therefore I am'. Basically what he's getting at there is if you think you look sexy, you are massively sexy - don't always believe the mirror and the hideously tinted skin staring back at you. Hopefully, a reminder that even in sales (and life), missteps can be valuable lessons and you should always read the packet and NEVER, EVER, EVER listen to Stevey B podcasts. #SalesLessons #B2BSales #JustForMen #OwnIt
