As a member of the ARIS board, I'm happy to share that Oregon State University is accepting applications for a full-time Research Impacts Specialist to work exclusively with ARIS, the NSF-supported Center for Advancing Research Impacts in Society. This position is eligible for an in person, hybrid or fully remote appointment. The Office for Research Advancement (ORA) in the Division of Research and Innovation seeks a full time Research Impacts Specialist to develop and facilitate the Broader Impacts Institutional Innovation (BI3) Program that is part of the National Science Foundation (NSF) supported center for Advancing Research Impacts in Society (ARIS). ARIS – led by the University of Missouri in partnership with Oregon State University, Rutgers University, University of Minnesota and Spellman College – has a mission to advance impacts of research for the betterment of society and the expansion of research. The goal of BI3 is to cultivate an inter/national leadership collective to guide research institutions and national organizations to employ societally responsive frameworks for a thriving research enterprise by collaborating with national and international partners and thought leaders to expand leadership and national discourse on research impacts. This 1.0 FTE position has responsibility 1) convene and coordinate national discussions and conversations that advance institutional and organizational capacity to generate and assess research impacts and 2) synthesize, author and coordinator collaborative and actionable scholarship to support institutions to use evidence-based and innovative practices and policies to enhance research impacts. People with the following qualifications are likely to be competitive (see posting for full list of qualifications). PhD. OR a master’s degree with 10 years of experience working at the institutional scale to advance research impacts and/or research translation. Scholarly and practical understanding of key science and society concepts such as broader impacts, research translation, public engagement with science, participatory and engaged research and workforce development. Contributions to advancing diversity, access, inclusion and belonging in the research and innovation enterprise. Scholarly evidence demonstrating advanced knowledge of social science research methods. Ability to write well-constructed scholarly articles for a broad audience of academics, administrators, and policy makers. Experience successfully communicating with and coordinating and designing meetings or events with academic leaders and/or executive level professionals.
