When #Founders talk about pivots, in most cases, they’re discussing business model or audience pivots—at least from my experience. ?? My time as a Founder has shown me that pivots happen in ALL aspects. ?? For example, the team and I have been heads down on certain integrations for Grapevine: Your Virtual Office Platform—from Google Drive to Slack to Zoom and others. As we approached completion of our Google Drive integration, we hit a specific requirement from Google that stopped us from rolling out that BIG news. ?? So, we pivoted to leverage a 3rd party to help us overcome the challenge. ??? But the 3rd party tool wasn’t working exactly how we needed for our specific needs. ??♂? So we pivoted again, changing a section in our platform from HR Resources to Company Resources, allowing users to upload important company materials that can be searchable and savable. ????? And, we even pivoted how we deliver this to our customers! ?? In a Virtual Office Platform or Social Intranet like ours, you don’t necessarily want or need EVERY file—you only need the important resources to eliminate confusion and information overload. ?? Another pivot: we’re shifting gears to build our Information Hub, which will allow users to create folders, add files and links, and organize them easily. Now employees can find what they need, when they need it, easier than ever before! ??? We’ve also continuously iterated our messaging over time and found better ways to share what we’re doing. ?? We went from big-picture vision explanations to focusing on the actual problem we are solving: Fragmented tools? Isolated employees? Scattered information? ?? That’s where we come in. ?? The point is, I used to believe pivoting meant a HUGE shift in everything. In reality, it's about building a culture of resilience and development, as Carol Dweck would say. ???? It’s not the challenges we face that define us, it’s how we react to them. Do we throw our hands up and feel sorry for ourselves? ?? OR Do we adapt and overcome by focusing on what we CAN do? ????
