LEGISLATIVE ASSISTANT (FOREIGN POLICY/NONPROLIFERATION/DEFENSE)?-? New England Democratic senator seeks a Legislative Assistant to lead the office’s work on nuclear nonproliferation and arms control, foreign policy, defense, and national security matters. This individual will advise and brief the Senator; draft, introduce, and secure the passage of amendments and legislation; identify bipartisan opportunities; perform in-depth analysis and research; meet with constituents; prepare briefing materials; and collaborate with national and local stakeholders. Qualified candidates also should be entrepreneurial, possess excellent negotiation and writing skills, and work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. This is not an entry-level position and previous experience working on arms control and nuclear nonproliferation policy is highly desired. Applicants must be eligible for a security clearance. This position is in person and based in the Washington, DC office with a salary range of $75,000 - $80,000 annually and benefits that include a federal student loan repayment option.
