When I became a Chief People Officer, I did everything with a little more sass than I had as a noob VP People. Wanna know the biggest thing that was different? I made sure that my team made our own decisions. That each person in the team got to make their own decisions, me included. That meant: ??♀? Building a People strategy and being prepared to get some parts wrong ??♂? Being prepared to force people’s hands to do things like hiring in first time women CEO’s and leaders ?? Being fully accountable, and a true peer to the rest of the C Suite It also meant: ?? That it was a little scary ?? That I was afraid of getting things wrong But that I did it anyway, and you can too. Start with smaller decisions at work and see what grows. What if you approached your next stakeholder meeting with a little more directness and a little less consultation…? Have a go and let me know how it feels. Because you getting to be all of who you are at work is what I care about. Because you - yes YOU - are amazing ??
