The blockchain/Web3 industry is FULL of experts who love to say on a panel “You will be sold once you understand the technology” or “Once you understand how it all works you will ‘get it’!” - The issue is, the consumer shouldn’t have to. I have no idea of the technical explanation or white paper of how an email leaves my inbox and reaches someone else on the other side of the world in 0.1seconds, yet I use it everyday. The early adopters of email wouldn’t of set up an email account because they were SO IMPRESSED with the technical capability, no - they set up an email because it was easy and added value to their lives. What we do at WMW is we don’t talk about the potential technical ability - we just use the tech. We use the tech in a way which is simple, sophisticated and makes sense to our consumers. We then educate our community and networks on the jargon term after the fact. After they have already engaged with it. For example, a POAP stands for a ‘proof of attendance protocol’ and is essentially a NFT which has joint benefits or ‘utility’ to everyone who has one, often given away at events to those who attend. At our Google Cloud co-hosted event last month everyone who attended received a POAP - and that POAP grants them consulting hours with Google Cloud Web3 experts and access to limited WMW events plus an invitation to Swell Club, our corporate offering for leadership teams. This is a value exchange for both the consumer and companies who created the POAP, mutually beneficial and exclusive to those who were there and can prove they were there via their POAP. We also did this by co-creating a bespoke link so VC partners and CEO’s could purchase (in some cases their first) NFT’s in 3 clicks using a credit card, because we knew they would be time poor and not move through the hoops of buying Ethereum, downloading Metamask and buying an NFT how it had always traditionally been done. So we changed it, wrapped it in a campaign called #ITookThePledge and it went relatively viral. Again, we made it easy. Start to look at Web3 strategies and emerging technologies as new ways to engage your customer base or develop a new one. It doesn’t have to be all exhaustive technical discussions - don’t get caught up in the jargon, it needs to add value and meet your audience where they are from a user experience perspective - that’s it. ????????
