The topic of Supply Chain Resilience has been used more frequently these days, maybe to the point of over-use, where it has entered mainstream media. Typically, an organization’s supply chain doesn’t get talked about unless there’s a problem. Continued disruptions such as the Covid-19 pandemic, the Ukraine war, the trade wars and even one ship blocking the Suez Canal have all led to supply chains around the globe, both the well-oiled supply chain machines and the less mature ones, to be equally tested and questioned, all with different outcomes. With over 280 Mn subscribers across 19 markets, #MTN's Ambition 2025 strategy is anchored in building the largest and most valuable platform business with a clear focus on Africa. The telecommunications industry provides essential services and is under pressure to maintain network capacity and quality due to increased demand. Failure to do so can lead to reduced availability, impacted quality and regulatory non-compliance. It is therefore imperative that #MTN maintains its operations and services despite disruptions. What works for the Western world does not necessarily work for Africa and what works in one industry may not apply in another. Thus, MTN’s GSSC-Global Sourcing and Supply Chain resilience program was tailor-made for our markets and has been recognized by the global industry, in winning prestigious international industry awards. This new series will break down supply chain resilience into bitesize chunks, each episode focusing on a specific topic of interest. It explores supply chain resilience based on MTN’s journey but allows for best practices to be extracted and applied across industries. #supplychain #strategy #sourcing #africa Arun Kumar Etienne Maduro Andrew Savage Makhumuzi Sicelo Mthethwa
