In the last 24 hours, Brewdog: ?? Launched an ad campaign announcing themselves as anti-sponsor of the World Cup in Qatar. ?? It was revealed that 3 months ago they’d done a deal to stock the biggest hotels in Qatar with their products. ?? And despite their fury at the injustice of the world’s biggest football tournament being held in a country with serious problems, Brewdog confirmed they will also be showing the matches in their venues. ?? People rightly called out the hypocrisy, en masse. ?? Brewdog’s founder dismisses it as “the usual hate”. There’s this amazing trend at the moment within which rich deluded entrepreneurs lazily claim to be saving the world whilst spinning their own fictional positive narratives despite feedback to the contrary and then write off any critique as jealousy or typical social media outrage. Which feels… healthy.
