Want to be more joyful, relaxed, and productive in the work you do? Cut the tie! Early on in my professional journey I was taught (told & expected) to wear a suit & tie since that's what "successful" people do. I promptly bought a lot of ties and suits. I quickly realized just how uncomfortable they made me feel. They were restrictive and in almost every meeting I would ask if I could get rid of the tie in the first 5 minutes of the meeting, they always said yes! Turns out most people I was meeting with didn't feel comfortable around people wearing ties either! For me, and other successful people like #richardbranson, I have found not wearing a tie makes me and those around me more comfortable, at ease, and less worried about pomp & circumstance. When I'm more comfortable, I'm more productive. And, let's face it, we don't always need to take things so seriously, life should be fun too! Cutting your ties is a small gesture that has great meaning. Don't let others define you, your wardrobe, and what "success" will look like for you. When you're "you" you are able to be your best.
