To do great things, you need to have vision. Last night at the Be Well Benefit, a fundraiser for our first school-based health center in Franklin Township, we premiered a special video honoring the incredible legacy and vision of Dr. Bob and Kay Zufall. The Zufalls dedicated themselves to being there for people who had nowhere else to turn for health care services—just like we will for children and families in Franklin Township. Today would have been Kay’s 98th birthday, and earlier this year, we sadly lost Dr. Bob just months before his 100th. Despite their passing, their vision continues to guide us in everything we do. Feeding Hands was thrilled to host Erica from Zufall Health SNAP-Ed for a bilingual nutrition class offered to our guests! In the class titled "Fruits and Vegetables", our guests learned about how much fruits and vegetables to eat each day and the importance of eating a variety of colors. They also learned how to make a delicious and nutritious fruit smoothie - YUM! Connection is one of Feeding Hands' mission pillars, and we so value our partnerships with local organizations, like Zufall Health, who make a difference in the lives of our neighbors in need! #CommunityPartnerships #PartnershipsInAction #FightHunger

Following a successful training event in January, our quarterly veterans’ mental health series will return to the Zufall Wellness Center in Morristown on Thursday, April 3. In this training, attendees will learn how to promote safety around lethal means (firearms, sharp objects, medications) for veterans at risk of suicide. Raven, 29, came to Zufall Health for medical care after losing her health insurance. Having dealt with severe asthma since age 2, she knew that forgoing treatment could be life-threatening. “I was young and still figuring things out financially, and I was so grateful to find care that was not only exceptional but also within my budget,” she said. Who knew a doctor’s office could be the perfect place for storytime? Regular reading aloud boosts a child’s cognitive development, improves listening skills, and nurtures emotional bonds—all key elements for healthy growth. During Zufall Health’s recent celebration of Read Across America Week, we were joined by special guest reader Sarah M. Adelman, Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Human Services, who delighted some of our youngest patients in Plainsboro with favorites like "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie." Commissioner Adelman’s visit highlights our longstanding partnership with Reach Out and Read, an evidence-based early literacy program through which we provide age-appropriate books to pediatric patients during well visits starting at age six months. We also encourage parents to read to their child to create a language-rich home environment. Thank you, Commissioner Adelman, and all who support and participate in our efforts to promote early literacy and healthier futures for our children!

One of our dental team’s best-kept secrets is its free continuing education series, presented in partnership with Delta Dental of New Jersey and Connecticut. In lieu of a registration fee, a donation to Zufall Health is appreciated. Our next dental learning opportunity will review oral cancer and oral potentially malignant disease, including risk factors, diagnosis, treatment, and management. Speaker Thomas P. This #AmeriCorpsWeek, we celebrate the dedication of Zufall Health AmeriCorps members like Nikhita and Serenity, who focus on guiding new mothers through pregnancy and postpartum care. In addition to maternal health, our AmeriCorps members support many impactful programs in our health center, including diabetes management, asthma care, HIV/AIDS services, oral health, and health insurance enrollment.
