In honor of this year’s Women in Construction Week, we’d like to take a moment to recognize the incredibly talented and capable women who are making meaningful contributions at all levels of our organization. At Zubatkin, we are especially proud of the fact that our team consists of over two-thirds women – a stat that is well above the construction industry average of 9%.? ? This year’s Women in Construction theme of “Together We Rise” challenges us to continually find new opportunities to elevate women in our industry and to celebrate their impact in shaping the future. Zubatkin Owner Representation, A Cumming Group Company, was established in 1994 and primarily serves not-for-profit organizations, including museum, performing arts, educational and religious institutions, across the East Coast of the United States. Zubatkin Owner Representation recently merged with Cumming Group, a renowned industry leader in project and cost management. The focus of Zubatkin’s practice is to assist in the strategic planning, design and construction of capital projects. The firm’s diverse portfolio spans all aspects of a project’s development – from initial real estate analysis, master planning and programming through design, construction and move-in – for both new construction and renovation and expansion projects. While a majority of Zubatkin’s work covers the not-for-profit sector, the team is also working with some of the leading private developers in New York. This blend of not-for-profit and for-profit experience provides a unique understanding of how to collaborate with diverse stakeholders to successfully structure projects with site challenges, complicated phasing, operational issues, and budget and schedule constraints.

As part of our ongoing professional development efforts for our team members, we recently visited the construction site for The Browning School’s new Upper School. While there, the team walked through the in-progress construction of the new facility, which is being repurposed to include space for 18 classrooms, a regulation-sized gymnasium, and areas for arts, community, and collaboration. Slated to open in September 2025, the project will allow Browning to grow its enrollment and better supports its educational programing for its Upper East Side campus. ? Zubatkin has worked closely with Browning since the early phases of the project and is currently overseeing the construction. ? Learn more about the renovation at https://lnkd.in/eji3Stge

See the remarkable restoration efforts taking place both inside and out at St. Vartan Cathedral. Over a year into the multi-phase project, the exterior has been rejuvenated and a new cross stands on the restored monumental golden dome. On the horizon is the interior restoration, including the planned construction of a new mechanical action pipe organ, a first of its kind in an Armenian church. ? Zubatkin’s very own Grace Kolb, P.E. recently joined other professionals to judge final presentations of the Design Build Excellence X-Training's Design Studio Collaboration Program. Emerging professionals from Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), AKF Group, Syska Hennessy Group, and Turner Construction Company presented design responses to a mock RFP to address the current industry challenge of converting New York City commercial buildings into much needed housing. Grace, who helped develop the original Design Collaboration Studio syllabus, worked with fellow judges to review presentations, and ask questions about the participants’ solutions, exposing them to the process of a prospective consultant interview. Last month, the Studio Museum in Harlem received its Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO), a critical step that brings us closer to the planned opening of the Museum’s new facility in Fall 2025. For our team at Zubatkin, this project embodies our dedication to supporting cultural institutions and community-based planning and construction projects. We’re humbled to be part of this landmark project, and we look forward to celebrating the opening next year alongside the Museum and project team Cooper Robertson, Adjaye Associates,?and Sciame Construction, LLC.
