Meet Liz Gordon-Canlas, our Managing Director and the woman making sure everything at Zora’s House runs smoothly behind the scenes. Since joining the team in December 2022, Liz has been the go-to person for staff, daily operations, and all the details that keep Zora’s House thriving. ?? What does Liz do at ZH? ? Ensures staff and vendors get paid and that Zora’s House remains financially strong ? Oversees compliance & nonprofit operations so we can keep growing ? Manages the day-to-day flow of the space, supporting both the team and the community ? Is often found under her Mickey Mouse blanket, buried in paperwork, making sure everything that needs to get done, gets done! ?? But Liz is more than just the numbers and logistics—she’s also a deeply creative, community-driven leader with a love for music, movement, and meaningful connection. ?? A quote she loves: “Island woman rise, walang makakatigil Brown, brown woman, rise, alamin ang ’yong ugat They got nothin’ on us (ayy!) Nothin’ on us (ayy!) Get to Know Liz: ?????????? She’s an identical twin! Her twin, a huge Zora’s House supporter, reminds her of the deep connection she feels when in community with other Women+ of Color. ?? She thrifted a baby grand piano during the pandemic and now plays for her children, who just started their own piano lessons! ? She wakes up at 4:15 AM every morning for quiet coffee by the fireplace before hitting the gym—this decade-long routine keeps her grounded (but she’s in bed by 8 PM ??). Her proudest ZH accomplishment? “It’s actually happening right now. I’m excited about the ways we continue to grow now that we are in the new space.” Liz is an essential part of this movement, and we are so grateful for the work she does every day to build a space where Women+ of Color can thrive, connect, and lead. ??
