We say NO to violence against women and girls because 1 in 5 women in complex humanitarian settings such as war has experienced sexual violence and other forms of violence not immediately visible. Conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV) hinders resolution and peachbuilding. Zonta calls upon governments and its members and allies to stop CRSV and to address these issues through legislation and action. We say NO to violence against women and girls because while there is legislation across the globe to protect against gender-based violence, it is not always enforced which does not encourage victims to report the crimes committed against them. We must call for the ratification and implementation of these laws. One way to do this is through the Istanbul Convention - the first legally binding instrument in the world that creates a framework to prevent violence, protect victims and prosecute perpetrators. Take action with your government through the Istanbul Convention or other similar legistation that will be created and enforced. #ZontaSaysNO #ZontiansInAction #16Days #EndGenderBasedViolence #IstanbulConvention

A Day of Listening ?? We say NO to violence against women and girls because one in three (30%) women worldwide has experienced either physical and/or sexual intimate partner violence or non-partner sexual violence in their lifetime. Not only does violence affect the victim, but its repercussions are felt throughout the community and personal connections. Zonta recognizes that every woman is remarkable and has a powerful story. Listen to two stories today on our Remarkable Women, Powerful Stories podcast and be inspired to be an advocate for yourself and those around you. ?? Meet Dr. Ang Jury With decades in the Women’s Refuge movement, Dr. Ang Jury has held roles from advocate to leader. Her research on gender and domestic violence, particularly the role of shame in abusive relationships, has shaped cross-agency collaborations and national strategies in New Zealand. Watch Dr. Ang's story on Youtube: https://lnkd.in/gHsGGV6E Listen on Spotify: https://lnkd.in/gdcea8Mg ?? Meet Natalie Jobe A Portland Community College graduate, Natalie Jobe is a passionate advocate against gender-based violence. She founded the Dismantling Domestic Violence Project, secured funding for shelters, and championed menstrual dignity in schools. Natalie’s work extends to legislative efforts, including her contributions to H.B. 2005A, addressing undetectable firearms. We say NO to violence against women and girls because child marriage, a form of violence, takes away girls' futures. Girls with little to no education are three times as likely to marry by the age of 18. Zonta works to end this human rights violation by working with our partners UNFPA and UNICEF USA through their Global Programme to End Child Marriage. We are working to deliver quality programs and services that meet the needs of adolescent girls and their families by expanding the capacity of education from primary through secondary school, health and sexuality programs, child protection, and gender-based violence (GBV) systems in 12 key countries. #ZontaSaysNO #ZontiansInAction #16Days #EndChildMarriage #EndGenderBasedViolence UNICEF USA

We say NO to violence against women and girls because 55% of female homicide victims were killed by a former or current intimate partner or other family member. Zonta clubs across the globe have worked to support domestic violence victims and worked with local government authorities to lessen the trauma involved in reporting these crimes by creating comfort rooms and providing additional resources to shelters and communities. #ZontaSaysNO #ZontiansInAction #16Days #EndGenderBasedViolence
