Starting in 2018, UCLA Law students and faculty with the Documentary Film Legal Clinic provided crucial legal support to help bring 'Free Chol Soo Lee' to screens worldwide. This year, the film won an Emmy at the 45th News and Documentary Emmy Awards. Clinic participants had special reason to keep tabs on the Emmy proceedings this year because, aside from 'Free Chol Soo Lee', two other films on which they had worked were nominated: 'Love in the Time of Fentanyl' and 'Anonymous Sister.' The Documentary Film Legal Clinic continues to empower aspiring entertainment lawyers while supporting independent filmmakers who shine light on untold stories. Over 200 films and counting.
