Do Europeans trust science? New survey says “yes, but...” A recent Eurobarometer survey on science revealed the positive opinion citizens have of science. It found that while Europeans trust science and want to learn more about scientific discoveries, they also expect research to be more inclusive and accessible. The survey found that:? ???83%?of EU citizens believe the overall influence of science and technology is positive. ?? 67%?agree that science and technology make our lives easier, healthier, and more comfortable. Its findings also include that:? ?? 77%?think that science and technology should consider the needs of all groups when developing new solutions and products. ?? 80%?agree that results of publicly funded research should be made available online free of charge. ?? 72% think their government should take responsibility to ensure that new technologies benefit everyone. Europeans are optimistic about the role of science and technology in improving quality of life, with strong support for the fields of renewable energy (87%) and vaccines (77%). We’re committed to advancing science through #HorizonEU - which has aims to improve how we communicate about research to citizens and contributes to a more inclusive, sustainable, and prosperous Europe.?

Alba Larraya, researcher at #BCAM, who works on cryptographic systems, a crucial line for post-quantum cryptography , participated in the presentation event in Donostia ?? of the Year of Quantum 2025 , a key year for scientific and technological progress ?? in the Basque Country. During the meeting, the Department of Science, Universities and Innovation detailed some of the actions that – within the BasQ Strategy – will be developed by the Basque Government during the coming months and that will mark the Year of Quantum in the Basque Country. These actions will be complemented with the initiatives that may be developed by the provincial councils, within their participation in BasQ.
