"The Portland Airport shows that you can build in place, have a really low carbon footprint, keep existing infrastructure along the way, save money, and do it beautifully." - Gene Sandoval ???: Kinser

关于我们
With our origins in Oregon, attention to craft and beauty is elemental to the ZGF culture. A deep respect for the built environment evolved from reverence for the surrounding natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest landscape and a commitment to stewardship of the natural environment. Rather than reflecting a signature style, our work is derived from the particulars of the climate, context, and the human experience. The instinct to build community, making places where people come together for a common purpose, is central to our work. Evolving from a single office with strong regional roots to a firm with seven offices across North America and 750+ staff, ZGF's national reputation was honored with the American Institute of Architects' Architecture Firm Award, recognizing the firm’s “high standards, humanistic concerns, and unique ability to capture the spirit of a place and the aspirations of its inhabitants.”

We’re thrilled to see Fast Company recognize the Port of Portland as one of the most innovative companies in the world for turning the Portland International Airport into “the country’s best by going local.” We've had the honor of working with the Port for 60 years and experiencing their unwavering leadership and vision in action. Congratulations!
Well, look at that—the Port of Portland just landed on Fast Company’s list of the World’s 50 Most Innovative Companies of 2025. Right up there with YouTube and the WNBA. That’s quite a big deal for a public agency. Apparently, turning an airport into a full-on love letter to the Pacific Northwest—with a locally sourced mass timber roof, all Oregon shops, 90% union-built everything, geothermal systems cutting fossil fuel use by 90%, and art that tells the story of Oregon—really does grab attention. Who knew? (We had a hunch.) Check out the full feature and see how our very own PDX is redefining what an airport can be—carpet and all: https://lnkd.in/gD5sPTgN ---------- #pdxairport #portlandoregon #pdxnext #FCMostInnovative

The PDX airport main terminal expansion is a case study in effective prefabrication and modular construction strategies. Over the course of 18 months, the massive 9-acre roof—including skylights, roofing, building system components and finishes—was assembled onsite before being disassembled, transported, and stitched back together over an operating terminal. This incredible feat would not have been possible without the collaboration and ingenuity of our talented project partners Hoffman Construction Company and Skanska. https://lnkd.in/gddWiFE8

The second phase of the PDX Airport is underway! At night over the next few weeks, the last of the prefabricated roof modules will be transported across the airfield and installed in their final position atop the operational main terminal. Prefabricating the roof structure to enable building-in-place was a complex and collaborative effort. We're proud to work alongside world class project partners to ensure uninterrupted passenger operations at PDX.
A major milestone for the Portland International Airport (PDX) TCore Phase 2 project! Last week, the first roof module of Phase 2 was transported across the airfield and carefully moved into its final position over the following nights - a complex operation requiring precision, coordination, and a strong commitment to safety. This work was strategically performed at night to minimize impact on airport operations, thanks to the dedication of the crews who work tirelessly to make it happen. Their expertise and teamwork continue to shape the future of one of the country's top airports. We’re proud to be delivering this transformative project in joint venture with Skanska, and in close in partnership with Port of Portland. #PDXNext #HoffmanBuilds #flypdx
