CERAWeek Houston 2025 is almost here!? Taking place from March 10–14, 2025, CERAWeek is one of the most influential energy conferences globally—a platform where leaders from across the energy spectrum come together to discuss the future of the industry, innovation, and the path to a sustainable energy transition. Last year, Energy Tech Nexus showcased its commitment to fostering innovation by hosting the Innovators Lounge during CERAWeek in Houston. The lounge welcomed 304 guests and featured 12 technical sessions focused on the energy transition. It became a hub for meaningful dialogue, bold ideas, and new connections. PepsiCo Grid Impact Score: 53 PepsiCo aims to achieve 100% renewable electricity in its operations by 2030 and extend this to franchise and third-party operations by 2040, significantly reducing its carbon footprint. This is being accomplished through on-site generation, power purchase agreements, energy attribute certificates, and renewable fuels. Initiatives like the pep+ REnew program and joining RE100 underscore PepsiCo's commitment to sustainable practices and net-zero emissions by 2040. ? Electricity Usage: 1,914,844 MWh annually ? Renewable Energy Mitigation: 30% mitigated through VPPAs, RECs, and Behind-the-Meter, and 68% mitigated through unbundled RECs PepsiCo's Chief Sustainability Officer, Jim Andrew, remarked, “We know the responsibility that comes with our size and scale, so transitioning PepsiCo's global business operations to 100% renewable electricity is the right step forward to deliver meaningful impact as we continue to advance our sustainability agenda.” PepsiCo has a great start with their renewable energy strategies, and we look forward to their continued progress in the renewable energy sector as they work toward achieving their 2030 and 2040 goals.?

PayPal, Inc. Grid Impact Score: 65 PayPal aims to power all data centers with 100% renewable energy, a goal they achieved by 2023. More broadly, they reached 90% renewable energy use across all operations in 2022 and plan to cut scope 1 and 2 emissions by 25% by 2025, aiming for net-zero emissions before 2040. They monitor renewable energy regulations and invest in community projects. ? Electricity Usage: 197,294 MWh annually? ? Renewable Energy Mitigation: 89% mitigated through Unbundled RECs, 32% mitigated through PPAs and Behind-the-Meter, and 5% mitigated through Green Tariffs Jaxon Love, Director of Global Environmental Sustainability stated “the Anthesis Group Team’s deep expertise in corporate greenhouse gas management and goal-setting has been incredibly valuable to advancing our science-based climate actions.” PayPal, Inc. is off to a great start on their renewable energy journey, and we look forward to watching them progress toward their 2040 goals.

MetLife Grid Impact Score: 33 MetLife Insurance's renewable energy strategy involves reducing emissions, investing in renewable projects, and implementing on-site green solutions. They've cut emissions by 44% since 2019, maintain carbon neutrality in operations, and aim for net zero emissions by 2050. This comprehensive approach integrates sustainability into their core business practices. ? Electricity Usage: 72,315 MWh annually ? Renewable Energy Mitigation: 100% mitigated through Unbundled RECs MetLife Chief Sustainability Officer Jon Richter states, “Ensuring resilient operations and reducing emissions are key components of MetLife's long-term climate commitments. Our partnership with ENERGY STAR has been instrumental in how we're driving the sustainability of MetLife's real estate and enhancing operational performance across the company.” MetLife has made a strong start, and we look forward to their continued progress in the renewable energy sector as they work toward achieving their 2050 goal.

The Clorox Company Grid Impact Score: 100 Clorox achieved 100% renewable electricity for its U.S. and Canadian operations in 2021 through virtual power purchase agreements (VPPAs) with wind and solar farms, supplemented by renewable energy credit (REC) purchases. This reduces their carbon emissions significantly and supports renewable energy infrastructure development. It's part of Clorox's larger plan to cut emissions and achieve net-zero by 2050. ? Electricity Usage: 356,256 MWh annually? ? Renewable Energy Mitigation: 104% mitigated through VPPAs (371,703 MWh) Clorox’s Chief Sustainability Officer, Ed Huber, remarks, “at Clorox, we feel a sense of urgency to address climate change given current warming trends resulting in significant impacts on our planet and global communities. As a society, we're at a pivotal point, with the health and well-being of future generations at stake.
