Zeskind's Hardware & Millwork

Following up on my commitment to support and engage with Requity Foundation Inc., I had the pleasure of providing a tour of Zeskind's Hardware & Millwork's facilities in Landover, MD. Thanks again to Kayla Jackson and Michael Rosenband for organizing students from Carver Vocational-Technical High School on a field trip to our millwork manufacturing and distribution facility. Also, photo credits go to Warren Rymes, who is a student and also a Community Coordinator for Requity. During the visit, we first toured the showroom to see examples of finished product from Zeskind's and our vendors. We then ventured out into our 70,000 square foot warehouse to learn about the processes and procedures of our manufacturing and distribution operations. The students asked insightful questions about material flow through the warehouse and the door production line, and we discussed the various types of custom millwork that Zeskind's provides and how that overlaps with our many thousands of historic projects we have supplied materials for in Baltimore City. I look forward to our continuing partnership, and exploring how Zeskind's can be one example of a career path for students who have the kinds of skills being taught at Carver.

I am so grateful for Zeskind's Hardware & Millwork's newest vendor relationship with Glenview Doors and INICIO Windows + Doors, and the positive outlook we have in our partnership. Meeting Greg Wozniak in person solidified what I already expected.... 1. Our companies, while different sizes, shared many core values. 2. We shared a passion for quality in millwork, window and doors, providing excellent customer service, and sharing in our client's excitement for their project. 3. Treating employees like true business partners results in positive outcomes for all. On our flight back from Chicago and visiting Glenview Haus and the Glenview manufacturing and distribution facility in Elk Grove, my team and I cannot stop talking about all the possibilities with these products. The combination of extremely high quality products at competitive and reasonable pricing, industry leading lead times, with a great story to tell and offering something nobody else has...is really difficult to find. Kevin Bouknight and Scott Gleiman, thank you for taking time away from your families and our valued customers for this two day trip. It was time well invested and I am very excited for the future with these products! And thank you so much to Greg and the whole team at Glenview and Inicio who made our trip so valuable and rewarding.

Two weeks ago, Kayla Jackson with Requity Foundation Inc. reached out to make sure I was aware of their organization in West Baltimore (Greater Rosemont), not too far from the Zeskind's Hardware & Millwork legacy location. I am SO glad she did, because what I have learned is incredibly impressive. Yesterday, I stopped by to see their operation, met so many wonderful people, and toured the Carver House. The Carver House is directly across the street from the Carver Vocational-Technical High School, where students are learning hands-on at a real rowhome how to build a passive house. This is an incredibly complex and impressive build which most experienced contractors would have difficulty achieving. I could not be more impressed and inspired by the experts who are on the Requity team passing along valuable skills to the students. I have pledged assistance as the Carver House moves forward by providing materials from Zeskind's Hardware & Millwork. I've also offered to visit the site to teach about measuring and installation methods for windows, doors, and other millwork in historic homes, as well as teach how to design the custom stair & rail systems to meet code requirements. We are excited to offer the students a field trip tour of our door manufacturing facility and custom millwork shop. I absolutely love historic buildings, and this one really stands out with all of it's ornamental brass and ironwork on the main floor and lobby, along with the many old safe rooms. ???
