Zero Foodprint is Mobilizing the Food World Around Climate Solutions.
关于我们
Named “Humanitarian of the Year” by the James Beard Foundation, ZFP sees the food system as a major solution to global warming as well as a major cause. ZFP members crowd-fund grants for farmers to switch to renewable farming practices—proven to be the most impactful initiative yet towards solving global warming. Think of it like improving the grid—of food. Just a few cents from restaurant meals, in aggregate, can create acres and acres of healthy soil and shift us from the extractive “conventional” agricultural system to a renewable food system. In fact, healthy soil could sequester all the carbon humans emit every year if farmers and ranchers reduced tilling, applied compost, planted cover crops, and incorporated animal grazing—practices that improve soil health by increasing the amount of life in the soil. That biomass is also carbon coming out of the atmosphere. Unfortunately, today’s industrial food system subsidizes practices that degrade soil, release carbon, deplete nutrients, and mistreat animals and resources. Zero Foodprint was formerly known as The Perennial Farming Initiative.

Farmers have the power to restore our climate by implementing regenerative practices, but recent funding freezes have halted their crucial work. That’s where Zero Foodprint comes in - partnering with restaurants to provide critical funding to farmers who restore the climate while growing good food. On April 21-27, Zero Foodprint is calling on restaurants (and eaters!) nationwide to join their new Earth Month campaign: Unfork the Planet. For one week, feature a climate-smart dish designed to source better, reduce waste, or drive regeneration through donations. Visit zerofoodprint.org/unfork to join the action and see how small (tasty) actions can add up to big change ????

We are thrilled to announce that Zero Foodprint has been named to Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies of 2025! ?? In the category of agriculture, "Zero Foodprint takes the top slot, for funding regenerative farming through a model so simple, it becomes radical." While we'd like to pat ourselves on the back for this one (and indeed, our incredible team deserves it!), this wouldn't have been possible without the hundreds of farmers, businesses, and eaters who have teamed up with us to regenerate. ?? Read more about this year’s #FCMostInnovative here:?https://lnkd.in/eWjmutx9 Congrats to our team: Anthony Myint, Leo Beckerman, Tiffany Nurrenbern, Lillian Power, Elaine C., JB Douglas, Katya Forsyth, Reggie Lee, Logan Mitchell, Alana Williams, and Jami Witek. And congrats also to the other agricultural companies we're proud to be named alongside: ClimateAi, Pairwise , Rodale Inc. , Diageo, Arable, Seso Inc., Four Growers, Inc., Applied Carbon, and Moolec Science. Thanks to Clint Rainey for the great coverage of our work!

Calling all chefs and restaurateurs! It's time to Unfork the Planet! This is a super easy way to celebrate Earth Week by teaming up with farms to regenerate. https://lnkd.in/ghWde5V6 “Unfork the Planet” is a national campaign rallying the restaurant industry in support of regenerative agriculture. For one week during Earth Month, restaurants will feature a special climate-smart dish designed to source better, reduce waste, or drive regeneration. Funds raised through campaign activities go directly to farmers restoring the climate through Zero Foodprint’s Restore Grants. * * * And for climate conscious diners who don't want to wait until Earth Week to accelerate regeneration, please peruse our member directory of businesses that are regenerating every day (through this spiffy new map courtesy of the amazing JB Douglas!) https://lnkd.in/g8rZwaax

An impressive and heartbreaking update: Zero Foodprint just received 362 requests for a total of over $7 million . This is 4X what we expected. Farmers are standing by to regenerate and every citizen, business and government can start to team up with them. As the USDA is thawing/honoring its contracts, please consider taking a small action yourself, by contributing any amount to directly initiate these shovel-ready farm projects for compost application, cover crop planting, silvopasture, hedgerow planting and more. https://lnkd.in/ggp_EqZZ

??? Join us this Wednesday, January 29th, to learn how your business can take climate action with every meal. About a third of the planet’s greenhouse gas emissions come from food and farming, but we can make small changes that don’t just “reduce our impact”--we can actually pull excess carbon out of the atmosphere, improve nutrition, and help farmers. It’s a win-win-win. Zero Foodprint mobilizes the food world around carbon farming, so that we can eat our way out of the climate crisis. Learn how your food business can become a part of the solution. RSVP and discover more ZFP events: https://lnkd.in/ek2sk5HP
