We have tested the presence of #PFAS in Hugo Clément As expected, the result is positive. We are all exposed to #ForeverChemicals ??The analysis found traces of PFOA, PFHxS and PFOS in his blood: three PFAS suspected of having possible health impacts, such as cancer, neurotoxic effects and infertility. We call on EU policy makers to solve this public health problem by implementing stronger regulation. #BanPFAS for a #ToxicFreeFuture ??Join the petition: https://lnkd.in/esbyr2mU PFAS accumulate in our bodies and in the environment. ZeroF project
包装和容器制造业
Developing safe & sustainable PFAS-free coatings for food packaging and textile applications.
关于我们
ZeroF is an EU & SERI-funded project that brings together 12 research and industrial partners who will collaborate to develop safe-and-sustainable-by-design coating alternatives to replace PFAS compounds found in food packaging and textiles. Coordinated by VTT, the consortium will aim to develop coatings that have limited water absorption, high oil/grease resistance for packaging, and high water/oil repellency for textiles over the next 36 months. Funded by the European Union and by the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI). Views and opinions expressed are however those of the author(s) only and do not necessarily reflect those of the European Union or of the granting authorities. Neither the European Union nor the granting authorities can be held responsible for them.

?? Investigating the link between PFAS and liver cancer. Recent studies show that long-term exposure to PFAS, particularly perfluorooctanesulfonic acid, is associated with an increased risk of liver cancer. These chemicals are highly persistent in the human body, raising significant concerns about their long-term health effects. Taking this connection into account is not only crucial for the protection of public health, but also for the development of safer alternatives and regulatory solutions. At ZeroF, we are focused on replacing PFAS with safer, more sustainable options to help protect both people and the planet! ??? Watch the video to learn more: https://lnkd.in/e9ySb7Rd Sources: ?? Let's wrap up last week’s #SSbD24 Conference at Monte Verità, a key event focused on advancing the Safe-and-Sustainable-by-Design (#SSbD) framework. This framework is central to the EU's Chemicals Strategy for sustainability, driving the transition towards safer and more sustainable chemicals and materials. Together with the SuperBark project,?the ZeroF project was represented at the conference by two partners: ?? Panagiotis Isigonis, PhD, from the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST), presented on “Early-stage application of the SSbD framework – Successes, considerations, and obstacles,”?explaining how ZeroF applies the SSbD framework in early research. This approach assesses chemicals for safety, sustainability, economic viability, and social impact, establishing SSbD criteria to develop safe and sustainable substances. Want to know more? Check the slides on Zenodo: https://lnkd.in/eCxMWYj8 ?? Elise MOREL from TEMAS Solutions presented a poster on “Safety assessment of PFAS alternatives for textiles and packaging,” focusing on the safety assessment process for PFAS alternatives in the ZeroF project to ensure safer, more sustainable materials in these sectors. It was a great opportunity to engage with experts across industry, academia, and regulation to help shape the future of safe and sustainable innovation. #SSbD #Innovation #Sustainability #ZeroF #SafetyAssessment #PFAS Empa IRISS – International SSbD network ETH Zürich Eawag Swiss Chemical Society (SCS)

?? PFAS contamination: Reaching even the most remote places! Did you know that Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (#PFAS) have been found everywhere from the peaks of Mount Everest to the deepest parts of our oceans? This shocking reality is another example of how far-reaching the impact of human activity can be, even in the most untouched parts of the world. Here’s what this should teach us: ?? PFAS contamination is a global issue that affects everyone. ??Safer, sustainable alternatives are essential, and initiatives such as the ZeroF research project funded by the EU and SERI are of great importance. ??Action through policies, innovation but also awareness raising is crucial. ?? ?? #PFAS in our drinking water and food: here is what you need to know! Did you know that PFAS, "forever chemicals," can end up in our drinking water? These chemicals, found in everyday items like non-stick cookware, firefighting foams & water-resistant fabrics, often enter our water through industrial runoff, landfill leaching & even agricultural use. Once they’re in our water system, they don’t break down and even build up in our bodies and the environment over time. Understanding how PFAS get into our water and food is the first step in protecting our health. That’s why it’s so important to push for stronger regulations, more research & safer alternatives. ZeroF, a EU and SERI funded reserach project, is working hard to create #PFASfree solutions that are safer and more sustainable for everyone. ???
