Our 600kW electric motor is a step change for aviation. Download a data sheet here: https://lnkd.in/ejfUm3XM ZeroAvia’s first e-motor is a 660kW max power, surface permanent magnet based high-efficiency machine, specifically designed for direct drive installations mounted to the propeller. The motor features world-leading stator and rotor technology, designed and produced following aerospace standards, delivering high-power density and weight reduction. Advanced thermal management, via optimized direct motor cooling using industry standard turbine oil, enables efficient heat transfer within the motor. This allows it to run cooler and for longer, with integrated thermal sensors for coil temperature monitoring. Its stator core is divided into 4 sections, enhancing fault tolerance and allowing higher input current from the inverters.

February is off to a flying start with another major milestone for the team! We have successfully finalized an agreement for the first standalone sale of our 600kW Electric Propulsion System (EPS) with Jetcruzer International LLC! The development unit EPS will play a crucial role in their flight testing of the Jetcruzer 500E. The development unit is scheduled for delivery this Spring. The Jetcruzer 500E is set to be one of of the first type-certificate aircraft to successfully fly with an all-electric propulsion system developed by ZeroAvia, marking a major breakthrough in aviation innovation. This is a major validation of the component offering ZeroAvia launched last year to serve the market for novel electric air transport applications. Our commitment to deep vertical integration in development of our full powertrain technology is paying off as we have amassed a range of IP and a portfolio of valuable fuel cell and electric propulsion components that have a strong market in their own right. ?? What a fantastic masterclass we had this week with our partners ZeroAvia at their Cotswold hangar! 21 students from 5 schools who are participating in our #FutureFlight project got to take part in a tour and a workshop competition. They also explored the details of their projects with experts and learned about routes into engineering with a specialist panel. What a day - thanks ZeroAvia! ??

How can critical advances in electric propulsion enable battery, hybrid and fuel cell applications? Electric aviation offers enormous potential for enhanced connectivity for people all over the world. Shorter journeys in quiet aircraft. Less disruption of communities and impacts on public health. Freedom from the volatile fuel supply chain. The opportunity is being seized by innovators developing exciting new aircraft to unlock new advanced air mobility and regional connections. However, realizing the vision of these new platforms is dependent on integrating effective and safe electric propulsion technology. We discussed some of the advances in this space, including ZeroAvia’s 600kW electric propulsion system, during our Hydrogen Aviation Summit. Watch here: https://lnkd.in/ebVKVTxa

Zero emissions. Simple. Ultra-efficient. ???? Electric motors boast significant advantages over combustion engines. They deliver immediate torque, require less maintenance, and are far more efficient. And unlike combustion engines that burn fuel and produce harmful pollutants, electric motors generate zero direct emissions. Back once again! ZeroAvia has been selected to take part in the second round of the Civil Aviation Authority's Hydrogen Challenge, following our involvement in the first round of this vital initiative. This time around we’ll be exploring the necessary safety and regulatory requirements for commercial adoption of hydrogen as we looks towards the certification of the ZA600 hydrogen-electric powertrain for up to 20 seat aircraft. Great to see the extension and expansion of this workstream with the UK regulator, and so many brilliant projects that will help advance the benefits of hydrogen in aviation. Major milestone for ZeroAvia today as we received an FAA-G1 issue paper for our 600kW Electric Propulsion System! This marks a significant step towards obtaining final certification for the company's EPS from the US regulator - the company's first certified product. The 600kW EPS integrates the company's unique inverter and electric motor technology to produce a highly efficient electric engine with outstanding fault tolerance and specific power, paving the way for a new array of electric air mobility applications, including battery, hybrid, and fuel cell electric fixed-wing aircraft, rotorcraft, and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. It is, of course, also a key part of ZeroAvia's ZA600 hydrogen-electric full powertrain, which is subject to a certification application with the UK CAA. Can aviation’s efforts to reduce its environmental impact keep up with the rapid growth in travel demand projected for the coming decades? The industry is at a crossroads, facing rising concerns about its energy consumption and climate impact. T&E’s latest report shows the sector plans to double passenger traffic between 2019 and 2050, even as the need for substantial emissions reductions becomes increasingly urgent. This growth could lead to a 59% increase in fuel consumption by 2050, with the EU potentially burning more fossil fuel in 2049 than in 2019 (a year that already saw the highest traffic volumes on record), despite meeting SAF mandate commitments under ReFuel EU Aviation. Even with the advancement, SAF supply may not meet demand, and biofuels’ limited scalability could force the industry to rely on unsustainable resources. The report focuses on the need for eSAF and demand curbs as solutions, and sadly overlooks the transformative potential of alternative propulsion using hydrogen and electric-power. With the right focus, zero-emission technologies can make a big contribution to decarbonization targets, unlocking cleaner air, reduced noise, energy independence and increased connectivity in the process.
