San Diego County has the 3rd highest population of veterans in the United States and is the number one destination for veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. Every year, over 20,000 Sailors and Marines stationed in San Diego leave military service, a third of whom are expected to stay in the San Diego community. Approximately 6,500 transitioning service members settle in Orange County each year. Studies show that the post 9/11 transitioning population is one of great promise. Individuals are well trained, team oriented, and hardworking, but they can also face challenges with transitioning to civilian life that existing community support in San Diego, Orange, Imperial & Riverside County can help resolve. Service members who successfully transition into the San Diego, Orange, Imperial & Riverside County communities are a great asset to our region! Mission To proactively link transitioning service members, recent veterans and their families to a broad range of resources and opportunities in the community, helping them successfully transition to civilian life. Our Vision zero8hundred will become a national model for effectively connecting transitioning service members and their families to comprehensive resources to support employment, education, health, and personal connections, easing their transition into the community.

Tim joins the Zero8Hundred Board bringing his experience and expertise to a team of community leaders who are dedicated to supporting and advocating for military members who are transitioning to civilian life. Tim is a United States Marine Corps Veteran who served during the Vietnam War.?Tim was instrumental in developing the Veteran Outreach Program for the Office of Military and Veteran Affairs bringing services to Veterans and their families for the County of San Diego.?Tim recently retired from his County position and looks forward to continuing his Veteran Advocacy across the San Diego Region.
