Connecting transitioning service members to resources in the community that are best uniquely fitted to their needs!
关于我们
San Diego County has the 3rd highest population of veterans in the United States and is the number one destination for veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. Every year, over 20,000 Sailors and Marines stationed in San Diego leave military service, a third of whom are expected to stay in the San Diego community. Approximately 6,500 transitioning service members settle in Orange County each year. Studies show that the post 9/11 transitioning population is one of great promise. Individuals are well trained, team oriented, and hardworking, but they can also face challenges with transitioning to civilian life that existing community support in San Diego, Orange, Imperial & Riverside County can help resolve. Service members who successfully transition into the San Diego, Orange, Imperial & Riverside County communities are a great asset to our region! Mission To proactively link transitioning service members, recent veterans and their families to a broad range of resources and opportunities in the community, helping them successfully transition to civilian life. Our Vision zero8hundred will become a national model for effectively connecting transitioning service members and their families to comprehensive resources to support employment, education, health, and personal connections, easing their transition into the community.

Thank You The Country Friends for recognizing Zero8Hundred as one of the 2025 Chosen Charities - we are grateful. Congrats to all the organizations chosen; your missions are truly making a difference. Ranch & Coast Magazine
The Country Friends announced grants of more than $300,000 to?34 charities during a February 3 reception at its Consignment Shop on El Tordo in Rancho Santa Fe. Attendees included charity representatives, TCF’s board of directors, and supporters. “This was our opportunity to showcase the ‘why’ behind what we do,” noted Janean Stripe, president of The Country Friends. “The ‘why’ is helping those organizations, our chosen charities, which are making an impact in our community and helping those in need.” ? Cavanaugh Marci, TCF’s funding director, explained that each request for funds is carefully vetted through a process that includes questionnaires, interviews, and site visits, as well as follow ups to make sure funds are used as designated. Emphasis is on programs that benefit women, children, the elderly, the homeless, military families, and those with disabilities. Each fall, TCF’s Board of Directors meets to review funding requests and vote on which nonprofits will receive grants. ? Stripe thanked Cavanaugh, assisted by Jolene Davidson, for serving as the director of TCF’s human care funding committee for nearly a decade. “It has been my honor to serve in this role, and to learn about the important, life-changing work of so many nonprofits,” notes Cavanaugh. The new funding co-directors are Laura MacKinnon Chapman, Christina Macone-Greene, and Dr. Amber N. Yoo.? ? The Country Friends raises funds primarily through the Art of Fashion, its signature runway show and luncheon, presented on September 11 this fall in partnership with South Coast Plaza, at The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe. Stripe introduced event co-chairs Sophia Alsadek, a well-known volunteer for many organizations including the Rancho Santa Fe Rotary Club, and Anna Laurel, an anchor and reporter at KFMB-TV CBS 8. KGTV 10News Anchor Kimberly Hunt will serve as emcee. TCF also raises funds through its Consignment Shop, led by Executive Director Yvette Letourneau and staffed by volunteers. ?
