Launched in 1999 at the top-ranked Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, the Zell Lurie Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies is in its second decade of delivering entrepreneurship education and programs on campus, in the State and across the U.S. The Institute is recognized for its three student-led venture funds -- the Wolverine, Frankel and Social Venture Funds -- internship program with start-up and venture capital firms, dare to dream grant awards for student start-ups, Michigan Business Challenge business plan competition, national symposia, and the TechArb business accelerator supported in partnership with the College of Engineering and the Office of Research. The Institute continues to demonstrate unsurpassed leadership in developing an entrepreneurship curriculum that simultaneously engages students in real-world learning experiences with start-up companies and venture-capital investment firms. In a broader context, the Zell Lurie Institute has played a major role as a participant and catalyst in statewide initiatives to commercialize University research and to incubate emerging companies in the high-tech, biopharmaceutical, medical-devices and renewable-energy industries. Through its collaboration with leaders from the public and private sectors, the Institute has helped to fuel the growth of a nascent venture-capital investment community that will retain and attract new ventures to the State.

?? Inspiring Sessions on Purpose, Mission, and Entrepreneurship at the University of Michigan by Zell Lurie Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies ?? Over the past week, I had the privilege of attending two impactful events that left me with lasting insights on building a purpose driven career and venture. A huge thank you to my mentors, Gregg Latterman, Steve Janssens, and the incredible Jasmine J., for support and allowing me to explore my true dreams and guiding me along this journey. ?? 11/8/2024 - Purpose, Mission, Values In a thought-provoking session led by Gregg Latterman, we delved deep into the foundational elements that drive meaningful work: purpose, mission, and values. One powerful takeaway was the emphasis on being "problem-obsessed" rather than solution-focused. Gregg highlighted that while solutions can evolve, a relentless commitment to addressing a core problem provides the resilience and motivation needed for long-term success. As entrepreneurs, it’s essential to constantly revisit our "why" and ensure that our mission aligns with our personal values. This alignment not only fuels our passion but also attracts like-minded team members and investors who believe in the journey. ?? 11/13/2024 - Desai Accelerator Demo Day At the Desai Accelerator Demo Day, hosted by Ben Marchionna, Gregg Latterman, and Lisa Katz, I witnessed incredible startups showcasing their innovations. Seeing these ventures in action reinforced the importance of a solid mission and adaptability. Each founder shared stories of refining their products and pivoting based on real customer feedback. A key lesson here was the significance of creating a clear, simple story that resonates with your audience, whether it’s customers, partners, or investors. The ability to communicate our purpose effectively is crucial for building strong connections and driving our ventures forward. These sessions reminded me of the value of staying true to a clear purpose while remaining flexible with our approach. ?? Looking forward to applying these lessons as I continue my entrepreneurial journey! #Entrepreneurship #PurposeDriven #DesaiAccelerator #UniversityOfMichigan #Startups #Networking #Innovation #ZLI
