YWOW: Young Widows or Widowers, Inc.

Rising above the storm; rebuilding lives, dreams and identities. YWOW is a community of widows and widowers that have lost their spouse or life partner too early in life. We have members from their 20s to their 80s throughout Virginia and specifically serve three areas (Southeastern, Peninsula, and Richmond). Membership is free and open to all ages. YWOW is an approved 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and operates on a donation basis. ~ Our Mission: YWOW strives to provide a safe environment to men and women who have lost their spouse or life partner. We offer mutual support, bereavement resources and social events to help members rebuild their lives, dreams, and identities. ~ Our Vision: YWOW is nationally recognized as a dynamic, responsive organization that provides unique grief support and social activites. ~ Our Values: Based on our personal grief journey, we provide a non-judgmental environment to guide those new to the journey. Our values include: Integrity - Our focus is on the members we serve. We strive for excellence through continuous improvement of our programs and services. Friendly and Caring - We are committed to serving with empathy and compassion in a safe environment.
