TODAY IS THE DAY!!! Celebrate your Giving Tuesday with YWCA Rock County! Over the next 24 hours, with your help, we’ll raise $8,000 enabling us help fund all of our programs at YWCA Rock County. Will you join us in our fundraising efforts? Steve Caya - Attorney at Law has generously offered to match the first $5,000 raised. Can you help us get to our goal? Donate here: https://lnkd.in/gH-93-dS The Domestic Violence Crisis is serious. Deaths are on the rise in Wisconsin and funding for victims has been significantly cut. Shootings make up the majority of homicides. Firearms remain the most common weapon used in domestic violence homicides and made up a larger share of deaths than in past years. In 2022, guns were used in 88.5% of fatal domestic violence incidents compared with 67% of incidents in 2021. Your donation can help bridge this funding gap.

YWCA Rock County was so grateful for the opportunity to work with Hadja, she was a great asset to our work and we are certain she will succeed in all she continues to do!
Beloit College Senior Hadja B. served as an accounting intern at the YWCA Rock County in Janesville through the Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges & Universities (WAICU)'s Nonprofit Internship Program. Hadja, who is pursuing her Bachelor of Science degree in business economics, is slated to graduate in May of 2025. She said of her experience, “The principal accounting project I worked on was helping update the Accounting Policies and Procedures Manual, along with writing and editing several different Standard Operating Procedures.” She continued, “Along with working on different projects, I had several opportunities to work at various events outside the office. One event I enjoyed was the Juneteenth event in Beloit at Tefler Park. I got the chance to see many black-owned businesses in Beloit and network with different people in the community.” The internship program offers WAICU-member students the opportunity to intern at a non-profit organization in one of four counties. Interns receive a stipend, scholarship, and important on-the-job experience. #WAICU
