  • 55 years ago, Dr. Dorothy I. Height, introduced the YWCA USA's One Imperative - eliminate racism wherever it exists. A true champion for social justice, her courage and vision transformed countless lives and paved the way for future generations. As we honor her birthday, let's carry forward her mission for equality and uplift voices that need to be heard. To celebrate #DorothyHeight's birthday, consider making a gift to the YWCA Greater Harrisburg, where our mission aligns with her vision of eliminating racism and empowering women. https://lnkd.in/ejDMexwh. #OneYWCA #WomensHistoryMonth

  • We're just a few days away from our Tribute to Women of Excellence and today we introduce you to our Karen F. Snider Emerging Leader Award Winner ???. Indira Ridgeway's passion for fighting human trafficking began in high school, and her dedication has since earned her numerous accolades. In 2013, she was honored with "Indira Ridgeway Day" and became the second person in PA to earn the Congressional Award Gold Medal for more than 400 hours of volunteer work. She continued her advocacy in college where her senior capstone on human trafficking earned top honors. In her role as the youngest executive director in the PA House of Representatives, Indira co-authored House Bill 2298, which criminalized remote stalking and closed a legal loophole. This groundbreaking legislation, introduced by Rep. John Galloway, gained national attention and inspired similar bills in other states. Her advocacy led to consumer alerts from the PA and NY Attorneys General regarding AirTag misuse, and Apple updated its software to protect against tracking threats. Indira continues to fight for the protection of vulnerable communities through research, public speaking, and partnerships with law enforcement and lawmakers. Her efforts have heightened awareness of technology-enabled threats and influenced protective tracking measures nationwide. Indira's work is helping shape policies to safeguard individuals from exploitation and create safer futures for all. #TWE2025 #WomenofExcellence
