?? Last Saturday, Plainfield Correctional Facility hosted its annual volunteer appreciation luncheon, and we were honored to speak about YYY’s impact. Two dedicated dads, Dell Dodson and LaQuinton Leonard, shared how the program has enriched their lives and families. Dell highlighted the value of our mental health sessions. At the same time, LaQuinton expressed gratitude for the chance to bond one-on-one with his son after only communicating via phone and video visits. We are so grateful for these powerful stories and the ongoing support from our community! #YYY, #FamilyReunification, #FathersMatter, #StrengtheningFamilies, #RebuildingBonds, #KidsNeedDads, #SecondChances, #HopeForFathers, #BreakingCycles, #FatherhoodJourney, #FamiliesFirst, #RestoringFamilies, #supportingdads

We Connect incarcerated dads with their children
关于我们
Our mission is to help incarcerated fathers build and maintain relationships with their children and strengthen their ability to BE a father. For the justice involved and those facing re-entry, a child's relationship with their father is often a footnote. You Yes You! makes the relationship the main topic. We create an infrastructure for incarcerated fathers to be and feel supported while also reconnecting them to their children. Through a curriculum-based fatherhood program, re-entry support. book clubs, mindfulness work, and family activities and dances. YYY! is changing the prison model and improving outcomes after release.

Our annual Halloween parties at the PUTNAMVILLE CORRECTIONAL FACILITY and the Plainfield Correctional Facility were a meaningful and fun celebration! Here’s what went down: ?? Pumpkin decorating ?? Games, games, and more games—perfect for dads and kids to bond. ?? Sweet treats for all, because what's Halloween without candy? ?? The cutest costumes you’ve ever seen! These events unite fathers and their children for unforgettable moments filled with laughter and connection. Big thanks to everyone who helped make this celebration a core memory for our families. A special shout out to the Finish Line Foundation for supplying shoes for the kids and to the Indiana Department of Correction for their continued support in all we do. ?? Father update! If you ever need a belly laugh or a burst of good energy, YYY dad Howard is the one to call! Howard originally joined YYY in 2019 but was unable to complete the program. We met up again in 2023 and mission completed!! If he’s not working or being a chef in the kitchen, Howard is with his children making sure they have plenty of belly laughs. For Howard, being a father means the world, “When it comes to being a father. The effort that I put forth with my kids is astronomical, but it’s not something that I have to force,” he said. “It’s something that they just bring out of me. They make me want to be a dad and it’s not hard. They’re not hard to please. They really want ME and that’s what makes it simple.” Shout out to Howard!! ??

On Saturday we had the honor to present a workshop, “Every Child Deserves A Parent Who Is Healing: How You Yes You! Helps Incarcerated Dads Build Relationships With Their Children at the American Probation and Parole Association’s 49th Annual Training Institute. Our Founder & Executive Director Ericka Sanders presented the workshop alongside Mindfully You! Program Manager, Rachel Rhodes, former IDOC Case Manager Derek Tomaw and YYY dad Kevin Brown. We were also joined by Dr. Kristen Dauss, YYY board member and Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for Core Civic. It was our first presentation at a national conference and it was a success! Grateful for the connections made and the opportunity to share about our work.

Please send some good vibes to YYY dad Kevin!!
YYY supporters please send some good energy to Kevin as he officially starts his journey with the Indiana Kentucky Ohio Regional Council of Carpenters Apprenticeship Program! We are working hard to connect our fathers with job opportunities that pay a living wage AND opportunities that actually eliminate barriers (not add to them) for those with justice involved backgrounds. In this program, Kevin’s starting wage is $21.37 per hour + $17.20 per hour in benefits. The 4 year program includes a yearly increase of $3.56 per hour. At the completion of the program, Kevin’s salary will be $35.61 per hour + $23.66 per hour in benefits. Additionally, Kevin will receive an associate’s degree in Applied Science through @ivytech. Can you imagine how Kevin’s life will change with this opportunity? We absolutely can!!
