?? In honor of #NationalApprenticeshipWeek, we're spotlighting youth apprentices, programs, and partners doing exceptional work! Meet Luis, from YouthBuild Charter School of California. The YouthBuild Construction Academy’s Annual Build Off Event got Luis interested in construction. His path to apprenticeship began with outdoor construction activities. ???While learning the curriculum, he built free library borrow boxes for the community. Six months after graduating, Luis entered the registered union apprenticeship program for the Floor Layers Local Union 1247, which is part of the Painters and Allied Trades District Council 36. He worked Monday through Friday and attended classes on Saturday. Those years were tough, but the learning was tremendous. It all paid off when he became a journeyman. #YouthBuildTheFuture #NAW2024

Meet Katelyn from YouthBuild Louisville. Katelyn overcame homelessness, worked hard to obtain her GED, and is now teaching the Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) class at her YouthBuild program! She is currently in college to become a Licensed Practical Nurse and is also gaining hands-on experience with memory care in a nursing facility. ??
