Happy #FeelGoodFridays! Last night, our Fellows met with peer trainers from CCC-New York, where they learned the steps to Effective Advocacy and got to act out skits around real-world issues. Our Fellows enjoyed their time together and look forward to utilizing the skills they learned to take action in their communities. Thank you, CCC-New York! #advocacy #nycyouth

Happy Monday! Last week, we welcomed back Don Kao, who led The Boat Exercise with our Fellows. Our Fellows engaged in eye-opening conversation that ultimately helped them gain an increased self-awareness and understanding of biases, discrimination, why they persist, and overall new perspectives. What a great night - thank you, Don! #diversity #youth #leadership

Happy #FeelGoodFridays! Last night, we welcomed our new Fellows for their first skillbuilding workshop: Understanding Ourselves and Others, where they learned to identify their leadership style and current perceptions of diverse people and communities. In the end, our teens felt inspired as they learned more about the diverse identities and perspectives in the room: from salutations, to languages spoken, clothing, holidays celebrated, and more. #youth #leadership

Happy #NationalDayofEncouragement! We know that life can get very busy and unexpectedly throw things at us. With that being said, sometimes we all need extra encouragement to keep going: whether it is for school, self-discovery, and more. Thank you to Mastercard for hosting an exclusive Career Day for our teens last month and moderating a panel that allowed our students to broaden their horizons and encouraged them to explore the world of possibilities! What made this day even more special was having our very own students use their voices as they participated in focus groups for product development. Thank you, Mastercard!

Today marks the anniversary of 9/11, one of the most tragic moments in history. Today, we commemorate the lives that were lost during the attacks that occurred 23 years ago. We encourage you all to stop by the 9/11 Memorial Museum in World Trade Center to learn more about this day, folks’ personal narratives and how they were shaped by this event, and experience small reminders/pockets of hope. #911memorial

Happy #ReadABookDay! The great thing about books is that they can serve as a tool to inspire, educate, and entertain. It’s the perfect way to wind down and end the week. We invite you all to locate your favorite book or author, or try out a new one, and do some reading. #reading #books #bookworms
