Educating the next generation of problem solvers and engineers. Formerly the award-winning program, EiE.
关于我们
Youth Engineering Solutions (YES) is the evolution of the award-winning PreK-8 curricula, EiE (Engineering is Elementary), from the Museum of Science, Boston. Our mission is to educate the next generation of problem solvers and engineers, with an understanding that diverse experiences, ideas, and approaches strengthen engineering solutions and create more equitable societies. We approach our mission through three core activities: (1) developing equitable, research-based, and classroom-tested preK-8 engineering curricula; (2) preparing and empowering educators to teach engineering; (3) conducting rigorous research that informs K-12 engineering education. Whether you’re a teacher or superintendent, parent, educator, STEM/STEAM/engineering enthusiast, or school district administrator-- the work we do can benefit you and the young learners in your life. Visit us at the link in our bio, and don’t hesitate to reach out. We’d love to hear from you and would be thrilled to help you identify the best curricula and educational tools for your students, families, districts and schools.

Congrats to this year's recipients of The Harold W. McGraw, Jr. Prize in Education! ?? ?? ??
With a little bit of luck, and a lot of hard work, you get to do the kind of work that fuels your soul and makes a positive impact on the lives of others. With lot of hard work over many years, some hard-fought and hard-won battles in your field, and an assortment of incredible colleagues and peers, you may find yourself being recognized for the impact you've had and the difference you've made in your field. Such was my experience as the recipient of the 2017 The Harold W. McGraw, Jr. Prize in Education, and it remains a highlight of my career. This year's incredible recipients-- Dr. Edmund Gordon, Dr. Jody Lewen, and Dr. Robert Lerman-- deserve every bit of recognition and praise for their incredible work, persistence, and impact in PreK–12 Education, Higher Education, and Lifelong Learning, respectively. Their leadership, contributions to the field, and dedication to transforming education are, simply put, deeply inspiring. To learn more about this year's recipients and the #McGrawPrize, please read the announcement at: https://lnkd.in/eABCcppi. (P.S.: I found an old photo of me at the Winner Celebration Dinner. Congratulations, Edmund, Jody and Robert- soon, that'll be you next to the sign with your face on it!) #education #leadership #highered #pk12 #lifelonglearning #edchat

The BPS Sundays program is such a wonderful example of making arts and culture accessible to students across class, neighborhood, race, and family income. More cities and school districts should follow suit. Ever since Mayor Michelle Wu announced BPS Sundays program, Boston Public Schools students and their families have had free admission to six City of Boston cultural institutions. Originally slated to end in August, that program has now been extended through the end of 2024. BPS Sundays has served over 36,000 people since its launch this past February. Funded by nonprofits, corporations, individual donors, and $300,000 in pandemic aid. That means the model could be replicated in other municipalities with the right financial support. One criticism has been that the program excludes private, charter, METCO, and homeschooled students, though Wu hinted at expanding access in the future. The program itself offers free access to BPS students and their families on the first two Sundays of each month: Boston Children's Museum Franklin Park Zoo Institute of Contemporary Art Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Boston Museum of Science New England Aquarium As someone working in the City of Waltham, MA, I'd love to see this kind of partnership around accessibility for Waltham Public Schools students to visit places like my workplace, Charles River Museum of Industry & Innovation, along with other sites like Gore Place, Historic New England's Lyman Estate, Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University, Stonehurst - Robert Treat Paine Estate and more. #culture #boston #greaterboston Mass Cultural Council https://lnkd.in/eaPTiCc8
