Youth Crossroads is a non-profit community-based organization whose mission is to act in the best interest of youth, guiding them through life's challenges, and inspiring them to discover new opportunities for personal development, healthy relationships, and positive community involvement. For more than 45 years, Youth Crossroads, Inc. provides a wide range of support to youth ages 11-18 including counseling, crisis intervention, and school/community-based trauma response. Additionally, we provide youth development programs including after-school enrichment and youth leadership development for high school students. All of these programs are designed to foster our mission to GUIDE SUPPORT INSPIRE all our local youth.

  • ?? Intern Spotlight: Meet Kim Arroyo! ?? We're excited to introduce Kim Arroyo, one of our incredible interns at Youth Crossroads! ?? Kim is a first-generation Mexican American, a UIC student majoring in Applied Psychology, and an all-around inspiring individual. ? Why Psychology? "I've always thought the human mind is incredible! Understanding why people do things is fascinating and applies to everyday life." ?? Kim's Role at YC: She's part of our Youth Development Program at Morton West, where she's been making amazing connections with students and planning her intern-led day! ?? Fun Facts About Kim: ?? She's been to 28 concerts (and counting!) ?? She'd love to have teleportation as a superpower to travel the world! ??? Her current favorite hobby? Coloring while listening to Krnb! ?? Words to Live By: "Si lo piensas mucho, lo complicas más." (If you think about it too much, you overcomplicate it!) Kim's passion for mental health and youth empowerment is inspiring! She hopes to earn a PhD, open a clinic, and provide a safe space for the Latin community to discuss mental health without stigma. Ashley is our Associate Director of Youth Development Programming, but her journey with Youth Crossroads started back in 2019 as an intern! After completing her MSW and working in youth leadership, she found her way back to YC in 2023—and we couldn't be more grateful to have her leading and inspiring our team. ?? That's something Caroline, one of our incredible interns, is learning first-hand at Youth Crossroads! ???? Caroline is a student at UIC, studying Applied Psychology because she's always been fascinated by the mind and how it works. But what really drives her? Making a real difference in people's lives. ?? At Youth Crossroads, she's been building strong connections with students, stepping out of her comfort zone, and even gearing up to facilitate her own activity! ? Fun Facts About Caroline: ?? She taught herself how to do a cartwheel! ?? If she could have a superpower, it'd be flying—because traveling would be WAY more affordable and scenic! ??
