Youth Challenge extends congratulations to Sara Steimle, who will be the first person with a developmental disability to serve as a Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities Board Member! "I am excited to serve the disability community in this way," Sara said. "My perspective is unique, because not only do I receive services due to my disability, but professionally I serve people with disabilities. So, I am familiar with both providing services and the services that are provided to me personally." Sara is the Alumni Program Coordinator at YC, and first joined YC as a participant over 20 years ago. At the County Board, Sara was a founding member of the Leadership Council, which consists of five members with developmental disabilities and has a mission "to modify and improve as well as ease access to services, facilities and programs being provided by the county board for people with disabilities." Before working at YC, Sara worked at a County Board Provider agency, where she planned activities and helped people with disabilities learn work skills. In addition, she serves on the Cuyahoga County Advisory Committee for Persons with Disabilities. Sara graduated in 2018 from Wright State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Rehabilitation Services. We are so proud of Sara Steimle's leadership and how she represents Youth Challenge in the community! [ID: headshot of Sara Steimle in a black and white sweater.]
