Your Magazine

I've been putting off writing this post for a while. Your Magazine has undoubtedly been my principal touchstone throughout my past three years of college. Words can't encompass how lucky I feel to have been YM's Managing Editor for the past two years. It is bittersweet to be writing this farewell, yet I find comfort in knowing that the magazine is in the incredibly capable hands of Hailey Kroll, Lily Brown, Griffin Willner, Sydney Swann and Aleks Carney. Magazine journalism is frequently discounted. I have experienced this skepticism firsthand within both my academic studies and professional experiences. We too often forget that magazines operate as the intersection of news, politics, culture, opinion and life. That is exactly what Your Magazine has done since its inception in 2011. During my tenure, it has been such a joy to see our publication expand. We revamped Your Mag TV, the video arm of the magazine led by the incomparable Sofia Verani, Fiona McMahon and Sebastian Olivo. Sophia Rossetti and Charlotte Brandman created and managed a team of incredible writers to form Your Blog, weekly columns that embody the unique voices of Emerson students. Through it all, YM has continued publishing three issues a semester. We could not produce as much as we do without the help of our 100+ freelancers and 30+ executive board members. Personally, I could not have been as effective as a Managing Editor without the help of Ashley Ferrer and Nirvana Ragland. You inspire me to be a better journalist, leader and person. To everyone who has been a part of Your Mag, thank you. You are the legacy we leave behind.

We are so thrilled that Your Mag won the award for Outstanding Print Publication for the second year in a row. Congratulations to all our executive board members and staffers who continue to make our magazine flourish!

We will be distributing print copies of our December issue ahead of its digital launch! Join us in the Lion's Den from 8:30 - 10 p.m. and enjoy live music, hot cocoa and snacks, tarot card readings, free merch and a clothing swap hosted by Sustainable Swaps. Our event planners went all out putting together our theme of "Something Borrowed," and we are thrilled to see their vision come to fruition.
