From November 20 - 27, we’re handing over our social media to The Young Geckos from The Overseas School of Colombo in Sri Lanka. This group of dynamic secondary school students are dedicated to promoting environmental sustainability in their community. ? Meet the Team ? ?? Sam Bridgwater As Service Leader for the Eco Club, Sam inspires action on environmental protection. Growing up in Sri Lanka, he’s passionate about sustainability and ecological preservation. ?? ?? Anneli Wijerathne Anneli is Secretary General for Model UN at OSC, where she merges leadership with a drive for sustainable development, tackling local and global issues with diplomacy and purpose. ?? ?? Millan Arsecularatne A dedicated Eco Club leader, Millan works on waste management and recycling initiatives with local businesses, promoting sustainable practices across the community. ?? ?? Senaka Samarasundera Service Leader for Young Reporters for the Environment, Senaka is driven to inspire pollution reduction and a commitment to a cleaner, greener world. ?? ?? Dimitri Silva As Service Leader for Recycling and Sustainability, Dimitri leads school initiatives on waste reduction and recycling, striving for environmental responsibility every day. ?? ?? Alya Khairina – Hailing from Malaysia, Alya is a YRE alumna and the Media Communications lead at @GGAF Malaysia. Her mission? To make environmental issues relatable, impactful, and inspiring for young people. ?? From climate action to sustainable living, Alya believes in the power of social media to spread awareness and motivate others to care for our planet, one post at a time. She’s eager to connect with youth around the world, sharing stories that make global challenges feel personal and engaging. ???? Iphendule Xhakana – Based in South Africa, Iphendule is a passionate advocate for environmental change. Through his work with #YRE, he’s taken on projects focusing on water conservation, waste reduction, and climate resilience. ???? With a background in environmental management, he’s ready to share insights on the issues that matter most to youth today. Iphendule sees every challenge as a chance to inspire action, believing in the power of youth-led initiatives to create lasting impact. ?? ??
