Last month, we welcomed close to 500 Young Global Leaders to Singapore for our milestone 20th anniversary Summit and two transformative days of dialogue, connection, and vision-setting to tackle global challenges. Our discussions centered on four crucial pillars: - Leadership for Technological & Innovative Stewardship - Leadership for Equity, Inclusion & Unity - Leadership for Nature & Climate - Leadership for Health, Well-being & Resilience From leveraging AI for societal good to advancing climate action and championing inclusive growth to revolutionizing healthcare approaches, our community demonstrated unprecedented commitment to driving positive change. The Summit exemplified what we've known for 20 years: when diverse, purpose-driven leaders come together, extraordinary things happen. Thank you to our hosts, Singapore Tourism Board and Sentosa Development Corporation, and our partners, the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), the Ministry of Trade and Industry (Singapore), the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY), the National Youth Council Singapore, Temasek, Enterprise Singapore, Singapore Airlines, The TENG Company, Accenture, the Aliko Dangote Foundation, and every YGL who contributed to this landmark gathering. #YGL24

What qualities should leaders embrace in the future to become the leaders the world sorely needs? In a new opion piece in Forbes, I argue with Raju Narisetti of McKinsey & Company that good leaders will need to step up to help navigate turbulent times, while a new generation of leaders will need to be prepared to step in. Having just hosted the Future of Leadership Summit in Singapore for The Forum of Young Global Leaders, I look forward to continuing dialogue on the evolving role of leadership #YGL24 World Economic Forum.

Singapore is glad to host the World Economic Forum Young Global Leaders Summit for the first time. This is the 20th edition of the programme. Each year, WEF selects around 100 young leaders under the age of 40 from all over the world. This year, we are proud to have two Singaporeans - MP Nadia Ahmad Samdin and international human rights lawyer Natasha Latiff! It was good to engage not only the current batch of young leaders, but also the alumni from previous cohorts. It’s a diverse and vibrant community of changemakers - everyone creating a positive impact in their own ways, and doing their part for a more inclusive and sustainable world! Last month, over 40 Young Global Leaders came together in Chile for the?Leadership for Nature and Planet - Patagonia Learning Journey. This immersive program was designed to explore critical issues related to sustainability, impact investment, and democracy in the region. By engaging with local leaders—including the Chilean Minister of Finance—visiting sites highlighting the urgency of the climate crisis, and participating in panels on impact and democracy, these leaders deepened their collective commitment to driving sustainable solutions. Learning journeys are integral to our mission of cultivating responsible leaders. Through experiences like these, we empower our community members with the insights, networks, and tools needed to effectively address global challenges and drive positive change worldwide.

This week, 50 Young Global Leaders are on a transformative leadership development journey in Nepal, generously hosted by local YGLs. Despite being the fourth most vulnerable nation to climate change, Nepal exemplifies remarkable resilience and leadership in safeguarding its biodiversity and ecosystems. YGLs are engaging with pioneering local leaders and sustainability experts, exploring fresh approaches to environmental stewardship and community resilience. The Community had the honor of meeting with the Right Honorable President of Nepal, His Excellency Ram Chandra Poudel, and influential leaders from both the private and public sectors. These interactions provide a platform for exchanging ideas and forging collaborative partnerships to drive impact across critical agendas. We extend our gratitude to the dedicated organizing team: Nirvana Chaudhary, Tshering Lama, Pradip Pariyar, Lokesh Todi, and Ashutosh Tiwari for making this transformational experience possible. Their commitment and tireless efforts have created an exceptional opportunity for YGLs to learn, grow, and inspire change.

Our programme celebrates and invests in leaders who think outside the box to tackle pressing global challenges. Meet #YGL Dr. Lamya Al Haj, a true innovator who is revolutionizing the transportation industry in Oman. By harnessing the untapped potential of date waste, Lamya is creating eco-friendly biodiesel to power buses, reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainability in the transportation sector. #YGL24 #WEF24
