With back-to-school season in full swing and less sunlight on the horizon, supporting our immune systems is crucial. This week we are discussing how you can boost your immunity naturally as we transition into the colder months. Learn more about us here: https://youholistic.com/ Here are some ways that you can boost your immune system: 1. Vitamin D:?Vitamin D stimulates the production of antimicrobial peptides that help fight off pathogens. Vitamin D supplementation may also reduce the risk of respiratory infections, especially in people who are deficient. Be sure to incorporate vitamin D-rich foods like fatty fish, egg yolks, or high quality supplementation into your daily routine.?Recommended dose ranges from 2,000-10,000 IUs for the average person. 2.?Mushrooms:?Certain mushrooms have been shown to have immune-boosting properties. Some powerful options include: - Turkey Tail: Contains polysaccharopeptides that may boost immune cells. - Shiitake: Rich in beta-glucans, which stimulate the immune system. - Reishi: Known for its ability to enhance immune function and reduce inflammation. 3. Vitamin C:?This powerful antioxidant helps protect cells from damage by free radicals. Vitamin C also supports the production and function of white blood cells, which ultimately shortens the duration and reduces the severity of common cold symptoms.?You can get Vitamin C orally or we also offer it intravenously in different doses which is delivered directly into the blood stream for increased bioavailability. 4. Ozone Ear Insufflation:?Ozone ear insufflation is a non-invasive therapy that involves introducing medical-grade?ozone gas into the ear canal.?Ozone ear insufflation is believed to offer several benefits: - Reduces inflammation and pain in the ear and sinus passages - Kills harmful pathogens like bacteria, viruses, and fungi in the ear canal - Improves oxygen flow and circulation to the brain - May help with conditions like chronic ear/sinus infections, tinnitus, vertigo, and Lyme disease 5. Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber:?Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is a medical treatment that involves breathing pure oxygen in a pressurized chamber.?HBOT has immunomodulatory effects, helping to regulate and balance the immune response. This can be beneficial for autoimmune conditions. It?enhances white blood cell function, which are key players in the immune system that protect against pathogens. It increases both the quantity and quality of white blood cells. It also stimulates the production of stem cells, which act as the body's internal repair system and help maintain optimal health.

This week we're discussing?INSULIN RESISTANCE! What is insulin resistance? --- Insulin is a hormone that is secreted by your pancreas in response to high blood sugars. If you eat too many sugars, starches?and carbs, your body will secrete more and more insulin in an attempt to keep the blood sugars under control. As a result of this constant surge of insulin, the body responds by decreasing the insulin receptors and the body becomes “Insulin Resistant” or less responsive to these insulin surges. This is when the blood sugars start to rise. Keep in mind that a fast insulin level can be elevated sometimes for decades before the A1C or blood sugar is ever affected (this is key, blood work is not always the best way to measure insulin sensitivity). What's insulin's job? --- It's important to recognize that insulin has 2 main jobs. The one most are familiar with, is helping the body to use glucose for energy by moving the sugar out of the blood stream and into the cells. The second job that most are unaware of is that insulin tells the body to turn glucose into fat (lipogenesis) and store it in the belly. Why is it important NOT to be insulin resistant? --- This is the main cause of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), and an increase in deep belly fat (visceral adiposity) which is associated with high inflammation. This inflammation causes inflammation of the arteries, increasing the risk of coronary vascular disease (CVD), coronary artery disease (CAD), heart attack/myocardial infarction (MI), stroke/cerebrovascular accident (CVA), and cancer. High insulin is also a big driver behind high cholesterol, hormonal imbalances, Alzheimer's disease (now being called type 3 diabetes), migraines, and sleep apnea. How to prevent & reverse?insulin resistance --- - LIMIT/ELIMINATE STARCH AND REFINED SUGARS AND CARBS including: soda, coffee drinks any flour that is from grains like pasta, muffins, pancakes, bagels, donuts... - AVOID ALCOHOL? - EXERCISE especially after eating something starchy. Move your muscles. When they move they will pull in glucose as a quick fuel source and this will drive down your blood sugars which in turn decreases insulin levels. Exercise also enhances insulin sensitivity further facilitating glucose uptake by the muscles - STRESS MANAGEMENT - stress and cortisol contributes to hormonal and blood sugar imbalances. - SLEEP - Poor sleep quality can also contribute to blood sugar imbalances. - SUPPLEMENTS & NUTRIENTS - Please contact our office to set up a consultation for A personalized nutritional/life style protocol to improve insulin resistance and optimize your health. How can we help at You Holistic?? Our providers are trained to assess for & guide our?patients to prevent and/or?reverse insulin resistance.?Think you may be insulin resistant??Give our office a call so we can help!
