The Science of Subconsciousness.
As a kid we were always taught to turn off the light whenever not needed, without acknowledging the real reason Thomas Alva Edison invented the Light Bulb. In this article let’s take up the intention behind the action of inventing the bulb, as often said - Necessity is the Mother of Invention.
Before delving into the “need” of light and “invention” of the light bulb, we must understand the intention of this post. To take for example, walking into a bookstore, the intetion should be clear - buying a book that I understand and delivers what is expected from the book. I draw that analogy because you must have the Intention to understand what The Science of Sub-Consciousness is, to be a Candidate who deserves the fruits of this post and hence the Topic. If it interests you, it should be enough to establish the Relationship as you read further. So now, more formally when you walk into a bookstore -
Selecting a book in a store Hinges (pun intended) on the topic (Subject) capturing your interest, as this spurs the desire to read further. The reader must be deserving (Candidate) to reap the benefits derived from reading about the topic. There must also be a purpose (Intention) behind reading, aiming to harvest the knowledge or enjoyment it offers. Lastly, a connection (Relationship) must exist between the sparked interest, the merit of the reading’s rewards, and the fulfillment brought about by the intent to read. This interplay of elements forms the four-fold bond (Anubandha Chatushtaya) that fulfills the objective of visiting a bookstore.
Coming to the need of light bulb, even if not asked before, if Sir Thomas Edison was questioned right now, He would quote that He invented the bulb to see the light in the dark. As we trace the beginning of time in the last post, questioning whether it was the day which came first or the night and if our bodies are meant to chase our desires while being awake or lie “Sub-consciously” in a state called “Comfortably Numb”.
The very light bulb has since 1879 LED (pun intended) to powering our phones which have light 24x7. Edison tried to Artificially create light and give us this virtual world to see in the night. More often than not, now electricity is also used to power Li-ion batteries from mobile phones to Tesla Roadster SV (but like Abel Tesfaye’s Starboy, I’m in a Blue Mulsanne, bumping new edition).
The absence of light, or dark enabled Humans since time immemorial to sleep in peace, fall sub-conscious and see the beauty in the dark. Which is to relate this discussion now to it’s closure by asking a final question - Is it that we wish to see what’s already visible to the naked eye in the day with the artifical light, or use the real dark to see what’s beyond the naked spectrum under a total control of sense ?
Food for thought, for last many years you’ve been dreaming at night and probably seeing things that you saw during the day or in light. How about seeing the dark ?
