This #GivingTuesday, join us on December 3rd to support our transformative Level the Field initiative! This program empowers young men to access college and persist to graduation by addressing critical financial and practical barriers. College expenses can impact every aspect of life, creating sustained stress for our students and their families. While college acceptance and financial aid are major achievements, the comprehensive costs of attending college can still be overwhelming. That’s where Level the Field steps in, providing essential resources like technology, textbooks, food and clothing gift cards, transportation, and more to alleviate these burdens. From helping a student furnish an empty apartment to providing emergency support for high school students, these funds directly address immediate needs and improve persistence rates. This year, we’re aiming to raise $7,500, with every gift matched 1:1 (up to $5,000). Your generosity will make a lasting difference—please join us in leveling the field! Inspiring brotherhood, respect, aspiration, and achievement for Boston's Black and Latino youth.
关于我们
Young Man with a Plan (YMWAP) delivers a holistic mentoring program that helps young Black and Latino men “in the middle” make academic and SEL gains and access sustainable futures. We achieve this through research-informed strategies of connecting youth to caring adults; strengthening youth academic, social emotional, critical thinking, and financial literacy skills; individualized success planning; quality partnerships; and creating a protective community. Young men receive 2+ hours of weekly in and out of school mentoring and coaching. YMWAP serves young men in grades 9-12, with a 90% retention rate over four years, and continued active engagement with alumni. YMWAP is led by Executive Director Jaykyri Simpson, Ed.D., whose doctoral research on Black male college persistence affirmed the value of mentoring and the degree to which young Black men craved explicit guidance respectfully delivered by trusted people. That is the essence of YMWAP.

Young Man with a Plan’s first “Alumni Homecoming” was a chance for over 50 young men to return to YMWAP, reconnect, share a meal, and tell us about their journeys. Our grads are in college and the military, working in corporations, schools, universities, hospitals, nonprofits, and in the trades. They are managers, engineers, artists, educators and entrepreneurs. They expressed gratitude for YMWAP’s steady guidance. Many want to give back through mentoring our younger students and sharing their learning and career experiences. #YMWAP #AlumniHomecoming #Mentorship #YoungMen #CareerJourneys #CommunityImpact #FutureLeaders #GiveBack #EducationMatters #Networking #MentorshipMatters #YouthEmpowerment #BuildingFutures #CareerSuccess #CommunitySupport #LeadershipDevelopment #EducationalSuccess #LifelongImpact #YouthEmpowerment #CommunityLeadership #Gratitude

It was a pleasure to attend this celebration for one of our biggest supporters! Life Science Cares Boston has been a tremendous partner for us!
We're pleased to share pictures from the recent Life Science Cares, Inc. event in Boston, celebrating the organization's Board of Advisors, including Managing Director Beth Ehrgott. Biogen hosted the event and Young Man With a Plan spoke about the importance of supporting the work of Life Science Cares' nonprofit partners. Life Science Cares is?a collective effort of life science companies to eliminate the impacts of poverty on their neighbors.?It supports service organizations with grants, volunteers, donations, and advocacy in five US cities. We look forward to seeing the continued, life-changing work Life Science Cares, Inc. will accomplish in the future.
